More often than not the player is required to fill a gauge, get an item, or simply obey the limitations of one. These gauges/items tend to be excessively named (more so as the chapters proceed) and quite impractical to fill/acquire.

One commonly returned to example is how one must deal/receive damage to release pang nectar in order to fill Impetus combs with honey to fill a character's relative Honey Suckle Recepticle so that they may perform a Comb Rave resulting in massive damage against DMK. Of course, in order to even inflict damage, one will probably have to charge the enemy's weakness gauge (Such as Blood Sugar or Emotion) for such a mighty attack to even make a scratch.
