however, it has been chosen based on the phrase used in a panel to describe one of its functions.
The Ecto-Alchemologizer is a composite device created by Dirk Strider that combines the functionality of several pieces of phernalia provided by Sburb, particularly those concerned with alchemy and ectobiology. The sigil on the alchemising surface of the apparatus superficially resembles that of the alchemiter in form, but with circles rather than triangles.
Much like the cloning pad used to create the Genesis Frog in a game of Sburb, the apparatus allows manipulation of a genetic waveform; however, the alchemical phernalia components allow it to be used in the opposite way by inserting captchalogued objects – adding noise deliberately to produce mutations, instead of smoothing out the waveform.
Due to being an advanced composite machine, it seems that no punching of captchalogue cards is required for it to use them, though Dirk speculates that the machine performs this process internally (and redundantly).
