Laboratories for performing ectobiology are found on meteors throughout the Veil circling the Incipisphere. The kingdoms of Prospit and Derse use them to create the “EXOTIC MENAGERIE OF CHESS PIECES” that make up their Armies of Light and Darkness on the Battlefield; accessible through transportalizers found on the Heroes' planets, they are also essential in the initial creation of said Heroes, who are generally paradox clones.
One particularly special lab is also found within a Frog Temple in the Veil and used in the creation of the first guardian.
A2 session[]
The laboratory where Karkat Vantas created the 12 troll Heroes and their ancestors later becomes their haven from Jack Noir's incursion into the session.
Explored throughout Alterniabound, the meteor facility is a vast building full of halls, stairways, secret passages and transportalizers. Some of its hostile creations roam the facility, such as the inquisiclops[citation needed] which Vriska Serket swiftly dispatches by collapsing the ground beneath it. Eventually, through the combined efforts of Sollux Captor and Aradia Megido, this meteor makes its way to the and then to the B2 session, with humans Rose Lalonde and Dave Strider aboard. Once within the Incipisphere, it is picked up by Skaia's defense portals and arrives on the post-scratch Earth, where the ectobiology apparatus is used to populate the newly-dubbed Earth C with trolls as well as humans, carapacians and consorts.
Far in the future, it eventually becomes Calliope and Caliborn's dwelling, and makes the journey to Caliborn's session.
B1 session[]

Lets hope someone knows how to change diapers.
Rose's Mom arrives in the humans' lab via the Land of Light and Rain, followed closely behind by Maplehoof[citation needed] and soon joined by Jade Harley's Grandpa via the Land of Wind and Shade.[citation needed] The two adults seemingly having set the machines up for his arrival, John Egbert soon makes his way there also, where he picks up the Junior Ectobiologist's Lab Suit.[citation needed] Using a terminal to follow the lives of his own Nanna, Rose's Mom, Dave's Bro and Jade's Grandpa, John cluelessly hits the button on the machine and initiates the ectobiology process, first creating the set of four guardians and then mixing their genetic material to create himself and the other three Heroes of his session, who as the Reckoning begins are sent via defense portal back to the Earth's past.

The second lab in the Frog Temple.
As the laboratory meteor begins its journey toward Skaia[citation needed] the Authority Regulator visits on hoverboard, where finds a sleeping John. Sacrificing his only means of escape, he sends John back to the safety of LOWAS on the board, and is himself exiled to post-apocalyptic Earth aboard the meteor.[citation needed]
In Homestuck: Beyond Canon (Dubiously Canon)[]

As part of his competition with Rose Lalonde to create the ideal race for a game of Sburb, Dirk Strider established a laboratory on Deltritus “with the ability to perform both alchemical and ectobiological functions”, or "ecto-alchemologize".
Like the Cloning Pad employed in frog breeding, the user can adjust the genetic waveform to encourage or discourage mutation; in the case of this unique machine, however, the information from captchalogue cards is used to alter the waveform.
Unlike in other card-reading apparati, the cards do not need to be punched to be read, though Dirk speculates that the machine redundantly “punches the cards with the correct pattern once you put them in”.
