fedorafreak was John Egbert's neighbor^{[citation needed]} through Act 1 of Homestuck, and a frequent participant in Serious Business exchanges with John's Dad, a fellow businessman.

He evacuated all of his clothing from his house, before it was struck by a meteor. His family died in the accident, leaving him the lone known survivor of the world, sans the four kids and their guardians. He was able to connect to Sburb and enter The Medium. He was able to scale his echeladder some and alchemized several objects, such as a "frivolous hat" and "excessively tall pant". He was quickly injured by an "undersized, sportive rascal" (likely an Imp) after donning said tall pant.

After talking briefly with Nannasprite over the PDA, he found a "horizontal stone slab exhibiting unidentified iconography," and lays down to rest on it. He stopped responding and presumably dies while lying on the Quest Bed, which may secure his status as god tier. His ultimate fate seems to have been left to the reader's imagination.

Fedorafreak was a frequent topic of discussion on Andrew Hussie's Formspring, where the author regularly dismissed obnoxious queries as to the identity of this obviously important character. Here, Hussie suggested that fedorafreak's mythological role was that of the Gent of Piss, and that his server player was fellow Serious Businessman 2busy4this. Hussie further suggested on Tumblr that fedorafreak had a post-scratch counterpart in fedorafriend, who is "only lukewarm on hats. He thinks they're ok, mostly."

2025 Discord event

In October 2025, as part of a 20,000 member celebration in the Official Homestuck Discord server, a poll was run among fans to decide which popular idea Hussie would illustrate (the Beforan ancestors ultimately coming out on top). One request, "fedoraFreak fighting imps on the battlefield", lost out to "Sweet Vriska and Hella Terezi" in the first round of the bracket (which in turn was bested by "god tier Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff"). Hussie enjoyed the idea enough to illustrate fedorafreak anyway, and posted a drawing of all six original Serious Business users on October 21, 2025.

David Brinner

Because of his proximity to John's Dad, many fans have speculated^{[citation needed]} as to his connection to fellow Maple Valley, WA resident Dr. David Brinner.

The name "David Brinner" is said to have originated in an MSPA Forums in-joke regarding an imaginary MS Paint Adventure entitled Dr. Brinner: Ghost Psychiatrist.^{[any better sources at all?]} The Peregrine Mendicant intent on delivering Brinner's mail also seems to homage the 1997 film The Postman, about a man delivering mail in post-apocalyptic America, based on a book by the author Dr. David Brin.
