John's Birthday

Karkat is seen in the background of the first panel of this comic. He is wearing a party hat and seems unhappy about it, though that might just be his base level of displeasure with the world around him.

Prototyped

Karkat gives the Beta kids a paraphrased version of one of his rants from in canon, chewing them out for making an unbeatable boss out of Jack Noir. Shortly after, it's revealed that this version of Jack can't actually do anything because he has no fingers on which to wear the Queen's Ring, making him substantially more beatable. Karkat's reaction to this is not shown.

Con Faire

Karkat is part of John's team in the Teen Con Air Finals, standing offstage with Terezi to provide his unique brand of moral support. He tells John that his performance was “CRAP”, but hesitates beforehand, possibly unsure whether to spare John's feelings. He is seen celebrating with the rest of the team when they win the trophy.

Her Pale Passions

Karkat is dismayed to find that his bookshelves of romance novels, which he had alphabetized by quadrant, were ransacked by a drunken Rose in search of something to read with Kanaya. We can see in the fifth panel that Karkat makes a habit of leaving notes in his books, scribbling over parts he finds disagreeable and commenting when he thinks something is wrong.

After intruding on Karkat's dream self and watching him sleep, you follow him to his hive on Alternia. He asks what the ever flying fuck you are doing in his room and you zap the fuck outta there. He eventually discovers your blood color one way or another in your array of 2 different dialogue choices. He freaks upon finding another mutant with crimson colored blood, and suggest you guys hide in a secret hole in the ground under his house in the most platonic way imaginable. To get the best ending, you have to flee out of the hole and zap Karkat to earth in Dave's apartment in Texas. He and John are there playing Tony Hawk.

From the reader's point of view, Karkat's Snapchat story picks up where his Canon biography ended.

Karkat wears a yellow shirt in attempt to cosplay Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff's Geromy, matching Dave and Dirk Strider's Hella Jeff and Sweet Bro costumes.

Shortly after John leaves, we see Dave and Karkat sitting at their home in the Troll Kingdom watching tv. Dave sees the announcement about Jane running for president, and shows Karkat. Dave goes on to elaborate how Jane will be detrimental to the economy (frequently invoking Obama's untapped potential) and the troll race's rights. Though Karkat hesitates to put himself back in a leadership role, Dave convinces him to run for the presidency in competition with Jane. The two of them talk about rounding up endorsements from their friends and Dave receives a surprise phone call from Dirk just as they begin to discuss Jake's key role in those endorsements. Dirk very quickly makes yet another beheading joke, and Karkat decides to proceed with “FUCKING LEAVING” the room.

Karkat enters a sort of polyamorous relationship with Jade and Dave, but later runs away from it, presumably because of Jade's meddling but possibly also due to the increasingly dire political situation between trolls and humans. He later disappears some time after the funeral of recton-recruited teen Jade and starts been seen in resistance posters. Years down the line, he is the leader of the troll rebellion against Jane's antics, seemingly in secret cahoots with Kanaya and Rose. At some point he encounters Meenah after her impact wearing the Ring of Life she stole from John in the Furthest Ring, and puts her as second in command, making the resistance not suck anymore. As seen later, he's apparently in a matespritship with Meenah and has lost an eye, causing him to wear an eyepatch.

He appears briefly at Dave and Jade's wedding, now part of the rebellion as well, but appears to remain distant with both of them. After conversing with John, he quickly absconds when he sees Dave approaching the balcony they were talking on.

Karkat first appears in Chapter 3, How Are Your Feelings, aboard Jake's ship with Dave, Kanaya, Alternate Calliope (possessing the body of Jade), Roxy and Calliope. Alternate Callie frightens him and Dave awake in the middle of the night, and, unable to go back to sleep, they traipse into the kitchen for some coffee. After Dave leaves to talk to Kanaya, Karkat airs out some of his anxieties rearding the former to Roxy. This quickly spirals into him worrying about everyone on board, and lamenting his perceived failure as a leader. He feels unworthy of the sympathy he's been receiving, wondering aloud why he seems not to have had to deal with the same problems as everyone else. Eventually, Roxy offers him pancakes, which he accepts. In Chapter 12, Really Convoluted Metaphorical Horseshit, he is seen in the laundry room with Dave, who is seen mumbling about his interaction with Kanaya. Karkat convinces Dave to talk more in depth about his inner fears surrounding his friends, Dirk, and Karkat's mortality. Karkat then reassures Dave about his worries, stating that while they didn't handle everything perfectly, not everything was Dave's fault, and Karkat isn't going to let Dave “SIT AROUND AND WATCH [HIM] GET OLD”. The chapter ends in them kissing on the washing machine.

Karkat reappears in Chapter 7, Distress Call from the Closet, as Commander Vantas of the Troll Rebellion. He and Meenah discuss Gamzee Makara's death, and the fact that Vriska Serket has returned to the narrative. Seeking to further sway public opinion in his favour, he contacts John. After learning about his son's actions, John grows estatic and tells Karkat he knows how the Rebellion can win.

Karkat later approaches John after his house has been blown up by one of Crockercorp's ships. After reprimanding John for his lack of action in the general landscape of the recent years, he scolds him for attempting to make Karkat “DISCUSS [HIS] "FEELINGS" ABOUT DAVE”. John, realising Karkat hadn't received the news, informs him Dave was found dead earlier.

Karkat is in the middle of the “ESCALATING, LARGE-SCALE MILITARY CONFLICT” when news drops of Jane Crocker's planned attack on the hidden meteor laboratory containing The Plot Point. Rendezvousing with Meenah Peixes, the two assemble the “mothafuckin” LOBsTERs and roll out toward the conflict point. On the way, Meenah corners him into a much-needed feelings jam about the wayward Dave Strider, which is thankfully interrupted by an equally needed call from Sollux Captor, who needs someone to get his “grubereats” order in past the military blockade.
