- “Lime Signs are tumultuous, bringing great emotion and creativity to their endeavors. They are resolute in their decisions; if they are going to do something, they do it. They have a tendency toward melodrama, especially when they feel passionately about something, and their bad moods are loud and usually difficult to conceal. Hiding their feelings does not come naturally to them, so many Lime Signs cultivate a hard outer shell to hide the passionate, caring person inside. Lime Signs tend to have a large group of friends-they draw people to them with allure and the promise of excitement, and are usually unaware that they are doing it. They tend to focus on their own flaws, rather than their good points. Although they are exceedingly kind and empathetic individuals, many Lime Signs posses a mean streak. If you catch them on a bad day, they can be incredibly vicious. But it they take care to use their power for good, they make very loyal companions. Romance is extremely important to Lime Signs, and when they fall, they fall hard. They don't take rejection well, and a breakup can send them into a tailspin requiring an extended period of recovery.”
- — The Extended Zodiac
The lime blood caste was one of the twelve troll blood castes, higher than gold and lower than olive. According to Calliope, while once common, lime bloods were hunted to extinction sometime prior to Hivebent, possibly for the powerful abilities they tended to have. They “reportedly had some unusual names”.
Kankri Vantas refers to members of the lime caste as “yell9wgreens”, considering the term 'limebloods' to have “hist9rically 6een used as an especially vici9us epithet”.
Though no specific trolls with lime blood are known, Karkat Vantas is associated with the Lime Sign Cancer, which is known as the Sign of the Signless after his ancestor who was executed in shackles resembling the sign. The Extended Zodiac says that Cancer transcends the Sign Class Spectrum altogether. Idarat Catlaz was originally designed as a limeblood, before being redesigned as teal. However, there is the possibility he is is still a limeblood but is just in disguise. Another troll, Fiamet, wears violet shoes and shirt with Aquamino sign, however her fins aren't visible, and her socks appear with a lime strip, further confusing her true blood color. Also, her placeholder Prongle avatar had border with a shade of green.

Confusion over color[]
Though the lime caste was not mentioned in the comic until Act 6, a page from Act 5 depicting various troll blood colors displays a color unaccounted for among the Homestuck trolls. The color depicted in this panel was initially a shade of green somewhere between olive and jade (where there is the largest gap in the color wheel); however Hussie later stated that the one missing blood color was between olive and gold, where the Cancer sign sits between Leo and Gemini. The blood on the walls was subsequently changed to a yellowgreen more accurate to this position.
Despite calling herself a limeblood, Calliope's blood and the color associated with her trollsona is a brighter, more blue green closer to the color originally depicted on the Grand Highblood panel than to the color of troll lime blood.
In Hiveswap Friendship Simulator (Dubiously Canon)[]
One of the bad endings in Volume 3 leaves the protagonist covered in various troll blood colors. Though the hex codes of the colors in the image are not exact, the juxtaposition with both olive and green makes the presence of lime clear, suggesting that they were still present during the time period in which Friendsim takes place. The lime found on the Highblood's wall - rather than the new color found on the Extended Zodiac - is also among the colors Chahut Maenad uses to spray paint the player's face in a clown ritual, though lime blood is not shown on any of the end screens for Chahut's route.[image?][clarify what this means?]
