Magic, sometimes majyyks, is a force found throughout MS Paint Adventures.

In Jailbreak[]

Magic makes its debut in Jailbreak as a special power used primarily by elves, who can magically transport people and animals between placesMspa icon, summon vegetables and possibly other elves, and commune with animalsMspa icon. Magic in Jailbreak is frequently found as spells written on characters' stomachs. Both elves and non-elf player characters have a majyyks stat, as do ponies who have eaten majyyk'd carrotsMspa icon.

In Problem Sleuth[]

MAGIC objects such as wardrobesMspa icon, medicine cabinetsMspa icon and buffet tablesMspa icon are essential in the process of embarking on the Quest of Spirit.

Though elves and animal communion both reappear in these Quests, their relationship with magic goes unspoken in Problem Sleuth.

In Homestuck[]

Magic has a much more mysterious and ambiguous place in Homestuck, the question as to its realness or fakeness being a recurring theme. Magic and miracles are both jointly dismissed as made up and not realHS, as are fairiesHS and wizardsHS (though dragons apparently areHS). Eridan Ampora also insistsHS that magic is fake, while Rose Lalonde seems to be of the opinion that it is realHS and continues to vouch for its realnessHS even after Scratch's questioning (see section below). Andrew Hussie hopes for magic to be realHS until its apparent fakeness leads to his death.HS Karkat Vantas expresses a cynical view,HS hypothesizing that while alchemy and the legendary weapons and items accessible through it are similar to magic, they are MORE LIKE / GOOFY SCIENCEY MAGIC, and make magic redundant. Despite this, aspects of Sburb such as the players' planets and the powers afforded to them by their mythological roles are often passingly referred to as magical.[citation needed]

The miracles referred to by Gamzee Makara as part of his clown religion are often associated with the concept of magic,HS as per the "magic miracles" referred to in the Insane Clown Posse's 'Miracles'. John Egbert and Jade Harley are both in possession of Magic Chests, though these tend to contain items more related to stage magic than anything truly supernatural.

Wands and magical items[]

Fraymotif John Rose

Items alchemized with images of wizards, such as needles or wands, are said to have magical properties.HS Doc Scratch, however, calls this into questionHS when he suggests that Rose and Eridan's 'magic' may in fact draw from other sources, namely the Horrorterrors and angels which both of the young magicians communicated with, respectively. The use of beams of Light fired from her needles in Rose's fraymotifs could further be taken as suggesting that these abilities actually stem from her mythological role in some way.

In spite of Scratch's apparent skepticism regarding the reality of magic, his cue ball seeds are usually referred to as "magic", as are itemsHS usedHS by his subordinates. The powers he claims to have taught to the Handmaid are also referred to as the clockwork majyyks,HS similarly fitting the troll's role as a Hero of Time.

Calliope believes magic is TOTALLY REALHS (and has used ANTI-SLEEP MAJYYKSHS on at least one occasion) but only works when one's wand has bullets in it.HS One ultimate example of a magic spell comes in Act 7, when an Alternate Calliope consumes the Green Sun by creating a black hole with three waves of her wand;[image?] it is not clear whether this was made possible solely by bullets loaded into the wand, or if Calliope draws this power from another source, such as the Space aspect (whose symbol is a rendition of a black hole).
