- “Adventure motivates Rust Signs more than anything else. They crave new experiences, the wilder and farther-from-home, the better. They are confident and energetic, ready to face the unknown. This dynamism makes them great leaders, but it can also make them foolhardy. Often, they don't posses the level of caution they should for someone so willing to jump into new things. Their willingness to trust can get them into trouble, but they are also incredibly resilient. Their ability to bounce back from trauma and injury leaves them as the toughest sign class on the spectrum. Rust Signs make great friends and traveling companions, but they also can be selfish and quick to anger. If what they deem to be an acceptable level of "excitement" isn't happening around them, they have a tendency to try to stir some up. They love the drama. They have incredibly high expectations for themselves and for romantic partners. If someone doesn't live up to these, they may deem them not worth their time. If they aren't careful, Rust Signs can end up in a cycle of excitement, followed by crushed expectations, followed by a quick recovery and new flush of excitement.”

Names[]
In Homestuck the term rust is often used to refer to low blood colors in general and Aradia and Tavros' colors in particular, in reference to the red-orange coloration of oxidised iron, with the lowest class specifically referred to mostly in disparaging terms such as “common”. The coloUrs and mayhem: Universe A album however used the term to refer to Aradia and her ancestor specifically, with Vriska later doing the same. The lowest caste is also referred to as rust on the Extended Zodiac.
Kankri Vantas considers the term “"rust 6l99ds"” to be a highly problematic slur and instead refers to this caste as “6urgundy”.
In Hiveswap Friendship Simulator (Dubiously Canon)[]
Marsti Houtek refers to her own caste as burgundy.[citation needed]
Physical attributes and abilities[]
Rust blood is a dark red color similar to the red associated with oxidised iron. It resembles human blood in real life, rather than the "candy red" presented for human blood in Homestuck.
Doc Scratch places the typical lifespan of a troll with rust blood at “just a dozen or two sweeps”. Aradia, Damara and Xefros all display telekinetic abilities which Vriska describes as “common to rust 8loods”. Aradia's powers are at least strong enough to lift the head of a Frog Temple, while a multitude of Damaras under the control of Aranea were capable of moving planets the size of the players' lands. With Sollux' help Aradia has managed to telekinetically move meteors on multiple occasions; the Condesce has achieved similar planet-moving feats by replicating both Aradia and Sollux' powers through experimentation. In contrast, Xefros struggles to move many small objects, and often relies on grub juice to keep his energy up.
In addition to telekinesis, Aradia has demonstrated an ability to communicate with and summon ghosts.
Most rust bloods have horns with simple curved shapes; Marsti and Diemen also have sets of three small bumps on the end of theirs. A minor quirk of rust bloods is that they all have blunt human-like teeth as opposed to the otherwise pointy teeth of trolls.
