Chainsawkind[edit source]

Since Kanayas lipstick can change into a chainsaw and chainsawkind exist I believe we should either change the makeupkind page to makeupkind/chainsawkind or create a seperate page for chainsawkind. Its up to you and Aepokk wherether or not this happens. The2ndplayer (talk) 00:16, February 13, 2014 (UTC)

Arms[edit source]

Sorry in advance if I am not posting this message where I should. I am fairly new to the comic and I am watching a "Let's read" by ColabHQ an I have noticed that a weird arm appears from time to time.To make it clear: I want to make sure I don't miss anything, while I am listening the "Let's read", I have the actual comic in a separated tab. I have notice a wird arm with a blue end appearing on some pages. Why is it weird ? Because in the video the arm is missing. I can see it on the actual comic page , but not in the video. Is this something which will be explained later ? Please explain .

Ouwlikinz (talk) 09:52, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

The arms are a retcon added on the 5th of April, 2013. The reason for the retcon will be explained once you reach the pages that were released on that date. - The Light6 (talk) 10:02, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

Time shenanigans vs. weird time shit[edit source]

it's like you didn't even read the article

"dave said time shenanigans once, omg soooo cooool.. i'll use that and ignore the fact that weird time shit, weird plot shit and weird puzzle shit are part of the same series of articles and the time article itself REFERS TO THIS and even LINKS TO THE ONGOING GAGS PAGE because of it.. who cares if the phrase time shenanigans has nothing to do with anything"

way to go dumbass

now go ahead and delete this post to mask how stupid you are, and then ban me in the hopes that nobody ever tries to correct your idiotic mistakes ever again

seems like it's a normal website you're looking for, not a wiki —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dontcareshutup (talkcontribs)

Coming into a wiki with a confrontational attitude and insulting an admin isn't going to get you anywhere fast.
That being said, the idea of them being a "series" is a purely cosmetic idea done by early editors of the wiki, our current policy is to use the "use the most complete confirmed canon name available". And that being said "weird time shit" has never been used in MSPA, meanwhile "time shenanigans" has been used multiple times, and not just by Dave. It is the most canon name available, things like "weird puzzle shit" are so named because they are also canon terms. - The Light6 (talk) 05:47, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

Article renaming template[edit source]

So I was checking th erecent wiki activity and noticed that you were looking for suggestions for images to use in the article renaming template you're working on. Maybe you could use one of the angry reaction faces from the naming box running gag. Or you could use an image of one of the characters who gets renamed a lot, like Jaspers, Casey, Serenity or one of the Exiles. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 09:23, April 28, 2014 (UTC)

Hmm, I do like the naming box gag suggestion. However I am thinking that Jade's non-reaction/unsure name status might be better than one of the angry denials, because it might reflect the proposal nature better sort of like "this article has a proposed rename, are we sure we want to rename it?" type thing. But I am still open to others thoughts. - The Light6 (talk) 11:07, April 28, 2014 (UTC)
I like the idea of it being Casey or Serenity a lot, actually. Aepokk Venset 20:39, April 28, 2014 (UTC)

The best way to help the wiki currently is just by editing, there are plenty of spots where the wiki is lacking, for ideas you may consider looking at the project list. As for becoming a staff member, there is currently no formal process for this, in the past editors have been promoted to staff by proving themselves through their contributions. Also I am afraid I don't have Trollian. - The Light6 (talk) 05:29, May 1, 2014 (UTC)

HS template ?[edit source]

I've noticed that some of the homestuck template transclusions have extra spaces. You know anything about that? See: John Egbert. YlimegirlHero of Hope – 22:41, July 12, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah I had noticed yesterday and checked out the relevant templates and couldn't pinpoint why it would have happened; I just figured Wikia broke something again and that it would fix itself. Given its inconsistency with appearing on some pages and not others it could be there is something on those particular pages being effected that is breaking it, but really I can't do anything at the moment, especially if the fault lies with Wikia. - The Light6 (talk) 07:35, July 13, 2014 (UTC)

Please don't put speculation in articles[edit source]

Please don't just put the speculation back on the page without talking about it first. It specifically requested the speculation be removed, so I removed it. ___ƒelinoel__Contributions_ 15:53, November 19, 2014 (UTC)

Stop putting nothing but entirely speculation in articles? Why are you doing that? Do you know how long it took me to find all of the speculation? ___ƒelinoel__Contributions_ 15:55, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
Firstly, let me actually type out my responses instead of assuming I was just ignoring them. Secondly; I am doing that because complete removal is not cleanup, which is what was actually requested, note the words "substituted" and "made more objective". While some speculation should be removed like I already said that does not mean all of it. - The Light6 (talk) 16:01, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
Seeing as how you automatically reverted my edits without any edit summary one could safely surmise that you were ignoring it. As I have said plenty of times, the only thing removed was the speculation. If there is no fact to replace it then the only possible option is to remove it. If you want the article to be composed of nothing but speculation that is fine but do not leave a banner that asks people to remove the speculation wasting their time. ___ƒelinoel__Contributions_ 16:03, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
Either undo the revert or remove the banner if your purpose is to waste people's time because that is not cool tricking people into thinking that you want the speculation removed when you don't. ___ƒelinoel__Contributions_ 16:11, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
The banner has been rewritten. Also I didn't add the banner, so don't accuse me of "tricking people". - The Light6 (talk) 16:21, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
So you do indeed want speculation in your articles, again that is not cool making others think otherwise. ___ƒelinoel__Contributions_ 16:22, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
You are an admin, a representative of the wiki, it falls to all admins. If this were to happen on one of the wikis I administrate then it would have been my fault as well as all of the other admins' fault. ___ƒelinoel__Contributions_ 16:24, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
Can you stop spamming the recent changes log with new messages? Good lord. I see nothing in his rewording of the banner that "justifies" your opinion that he wants to keep the out of hand degree of speculation. He reworded it with a greater focus on cleanup, and avoiding subjectivity. And why are you so upset about "all your hard work being gone" when I can verify firsthand right now that everything you did remains completely intact in the page history, and we can go back and refer to it if need be? Aepokk ulpex 16:28, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
And if it helps you understand: there's a distinction between, for example, analyzing Kanaya's statements about the Sylph and Witch, or the fact that Seers and Mages both hear their Exiles crystal clear, and analyzing more abstract and dubiously relevant things like in the Mage section where it speculates about shielding the players from ill effects. Besides, at least the denomination between confirmed and speculatory is clear here, the Aspect article is just a damn mess. Aepokk ulpex 16:33, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
Reverting my removal of all speculation is what told me that he wanted speculation, the fact that he reworded the banner instead of undoing his revert only solidified that knowledge. I never said my "hard work" was gone, I said that my time was wasted by undoing what I spent time scouring over. There is a distinction between analyzing statements and analyzing the abstract, yes. But that difference doesn't make either of those not speculation. ___ƒelinoel__Contributions_ 16:38, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
I reverted your removal because it was not "substituting" or making any statements "more objective", I have already covered this, that was stated in the banner already. I simply reworded the banner to make more clear what it already said. And that is without even addressing your statements blaming all staff members here of... something, I am not even sure what, but yes, staff did add that banner because yes, the page needs to be cleaned up, but simply removing a large amount of content is not constructive to the page. - The Light6 (talk) 16:44, November 19, 2014 (UTC)

"Leave message"[edit source]

Having just mentioned in passing to a user that the "leave message" button is somewhat misleading, as it creates a new section, I was wondering if you thought it would be worth changing the label to something else. I believe [[MediaWiki:Addsection|this]] is the correct mediawiki page, although there's also [[MediaWiki:Add comment|this one]] that I'm not sure about. It's probably something to do with article comments which we don't use because they're terrible, so I think we can ignore that one -- Sorceror Nobody, 17:43, March 5, 2015 (UTC)

Subscribe to an Article[edit source]

Hi!  I'm by no means a Wiki expert.  I kinda muddle through and get by, mostly by following examples.

Anyway, you once offered to answer any question I had, when I made my first edit.  Well, now I have one!  I hope you're still around to answer it.

So, when you edit a page, you get a chance to subscribe to future edits to that article.  These subscriptions show up on my "following" tab.  My issue:  I'd like to subscribe to (or follow) an article without making an edit.  Any idea how to do that, if it's possible?

Thanks for your time!!!

~ Kaptinn (talk) 01:53, August 10, 2015 (UTC)

Surprise, you get a different person answering your question instead! Anyways, just append "?action=watch" to the URL of the article you wish to watch. The wiki will then prompt you to watch the article. You can also add titles to your watchlist here.
Hope this helped! YlimegirlHero of Hope – 02:21, August 10, 2015 (UTC)

DaveKat[edit source]

I'm beginning to wonder whether we should semiprotect Dave, Karkat, and possibly the Quadrants article for a while, in order to agree on how the description of DaveKat should be handled. As it stands, these articles have been subject to numerous edits that, although not vandalism, do more or less amount to minor squabbling over how overtly the relationship should be described, and what the exact nature of it is. It's gotten to the point where I am just reluctant to touch the edits, and all I can do is sigh in resignation every time I see those articles have been edited, because I just don't want to get mired in the entire thing... but we definitely need to come to some sort of resolution on this -- Sorceror Nobody, 19:05, May 30, 2016 (UTC)

Edit warring is a perfectly justifiable reason for protecting a page. As for a resolution, the comic deliberately keeps it vague (with characters like Terezi even highlighting the vagueness), to me the pages should make clear that there is some sort of relationship but make clear that ambiguity exists. - The Light6 (talk) 03:38, May 31, 2016 (UTC)

Character Infoboxes[edit source]

Irony Extremist (talk) 14:34, September 13, 2017 (UTC)

Hey. You might have noticed some changes on some of this wiki's pages were done by me, and if you were curious as to what these changes are, then I just added some themes that weren't listed yet in the music section of the info boxes for some of the characters in Homestuck (And I also added irony as one of the things Dirk likes). I really don't know how to do anything else here or how anything else works. Hell, I only started editing and really using Wikia a few days ago. But I figured I should just let you know what kind of changes I'm making.

Potential wiki feature updates[edit source]

Hello! I'm new to this wiki, but I'm on the staff of a few others, and I thought you might be the person to talk to about the possibility of modernizing the wiki with new features that Wikia offers.

One possibility is replacing talk pages for articles and users with comments sections and message walls. I personally think this format is more intuitive and makes it easier to avoid missing messages.

An additional option can be allowing users to create blog posts—this can be a way of allowing fanon content on the wiki while still keeping it out of actual articles, and this can help the wiki serve a role as a community hub for the fandom.

Another possibility could be to replace the IRC with a Wikia-designed chatroom—this can allow users to see who's in the chat from any page and join the chat with one click.

I don't know if you're familiar with these features, but I just thought I should ask you about whether you're interested in adding them to the wiki! If you're unfamiliar with them, they can be enabled through Special:WikiFeatures. And if you're wondering how they work in action, check out the Miraculous Ladybug wiki, which uses all of them. I edit on there regularly, and I find these features to be quite beneficial!

--Lilanette (talk)

New admin team[edit source]

Hey, the wiki got linked by Viz, so it seems we need to restore it to an acceptable state. There are more griefers than ever, especially in Hiveswap articles, and it's clear the current organization can't really deal with it.

My objective is implementing a new team of active admins that will help solve those problems, if you'll allow it. We can work together to fix this.

Could you contact me on the Homestuck Discord (discord gg slash homestuck) or on the Homestuck subreddit? I'm very easy to find.

Hiveswap transcript[edit source]

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, I'm clueless since I've never been, like, active here, or on any wiki, really. But I've been typing up a transcript of all the dialogue in Hiveswap, and I wondered what would be the best way to host and/or share it to make it accessible to people who might find it useful. Please, I'd love to help. 23:17, September 15, 2017 (UTC)

Not really sure what good it would do on the wiki. Plus anything more than specific quotes would probably be copyright violation, so I really can't help you there. - The Light6 (talk) 01:55, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
This sort of thing has been done on a number of other wikis, so there's a precedent. For instance, on the Miraculous Ladybug wiki, we've got transcripts of every episode of the relevant show. So I don't believe copyright is a problem here. And they've certainly been good to have on the wiki—the transcripts have been really useful for tracking down quotes and for referencing to get information for plot summaries. And for something like Hiveswap, I'd think it would be especially useful to have a transcript, since it's not exactly something you can fast-forward through to get to a particular quote.
--Lilanette (talk) 02:27, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
While other wikis may have done it, that doesn't change the fact it is a copyright violation.
I don't disagree that public transcripts make quote tracking and referencing easier, because of course they do, but copyright is a straight up legal matter. Of course there is a degree of fair use and going beyond that really depends on the tolerance of copyright holders. Homestuck and MSPA in general up to this point have been free work that are publicly available, so previously there has been a high level of acceptance, plus most of the wiki should be falling within fair use when it comes to material directly used from MSPA.
However Hiveswap is not a freely available work and an entire transcript would really be going beyond fair use. Unless What Pumpkin were to give explicit permission I really can't accept a transcript being put up here. - The Light6 (talk) 16:24, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
I get your reservations, but I'm having a hard time imagining how a wiki dedicated to describing every aspect of a game 1) could function without a direct source of quotes, OR 2) isn't kind of in violation of exclusivity to an equal degree just by doing so—and it's not like either thing replaces playing the game. At least, hundreds of other fandom wikis have justified posting transcripts, one way or another.
If you insist, I'll understand. But the way I see it, it's inevitable that someone, somewhere, will publish a transcript of Hiveswap before long, and it's all the better if only one person has to go through the effort. I just don't know where other than the wiki it would be nearly as easy to find. Would you be any more willing to link to a document hosted somewhere else? 01:12, September 17, 2017 (UTC)

Request to merge Hiveswap Wiki[edit source]

Hey, I'm the admin at the Hiveswap Wiki and I was wondering if you would be interested in merging that wiki with this one? So if someone enters "" it would redirect to this wiki's home page. This community is more active in terms of page-views and content and there are no pages to transfer over, so there's no need to export/import anything.

If you think it's a good idea, you can go ahead and send a request to Wikia, or I can do so if you'd prefer. --LostRunes (talk) 04:58, October 1, 2017 (UTC)

Fandom's terms of use forbade us from doing that (blocking ads via css themes) for various reasons. We could get in biiiiiig trouble if we implemented that. YlimegirlHero of Hope – 03:06, November 4, 2017 (UTC)

Link fixes[edit source]

As I was saying on Ylimegirl's page, I could write a bot to adjust the MSPA links sitewide pretty easily, but if that's an option you'd wanna go down we'd have to decide prior to manually fixing more links because otherwise the bot would re-break the fixed links. BlackholeWI (talk) 03:32, April 4, 2018 (UTC)

I already replied on Ylimegirl's page before I saw this, but I'll repeat myself here, if you think you can do it I'll stop updating, but it should be easy enough to just revert the pages I have updated. Also you would have to just be mindful to only be updating Homestuck links and not all links. - The Light6 (talk) 03:41, April 4, 2018 (UTC)

Lil Halbot permissions[edit source]

I'm having a little trouble getting my bot to work. Judging on the error messages I think it's hitting a Captcha. Is there a chance you could give it the correct permissions so it isn't challenged? User:Lil Halbot. It isn't fully ready to make the changes yet but I'm incrementally testing the script. Thanks. BlackholeWI (talk) 23:49, April 4, 2018 (UTC)

I actually was looking at the permission setting last night and I mentioned it on Ylimegirl's talk page, it appears I can't manually give bot status. I can however ask Wikia to do so, so I'll send them a request. - The Light6 (talk) 00:17, April 5, 2018 (UTC)

Halbot update[edit source]

I have discovered and fixed a bug that was causing some pages to be passed over by the bot but still marked as checked. The only issue is, the bot cannot now distinguish between pages that it has already updated and pages which it hasn't, at least not without a little bit of work to make it check edit logs. These unupdated pages should be in the minority, however, and for now I can manually point the bot at them. Unless you can think of a way to easily distinguish already updated links, though, I won't be able to run through all the pages en-masse again until I can program in a check to see if the bot has previously touched a page regardless of what its blacklist says. List of flash pages is done though, and I also fixed the >9999 bug at the same time. BlackholeWI (talk) 01:54, April 6, 2018 (UTC)

Raid warning[edit source]

This is Drew Linky, a moderator for the Homestuck Discord Server. One of our users reported that the MSPA wiki was being raided, and several pages--including Karkat Vantas, Andrew Hussie, and potentially many others--are being spam edited. I've been trying to organize a response to revert the pages to their original state, but figured it would be also be prudent to contact you immediately. I hope this is the correct avenue for doing so, I don't usually use the wiki. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to help fix the raid problems. 02:18, November 27, 2018 (UTC) Drew Linky

I contacted you via Discord, however for the record over here, the best people can do if they see spam is to revert it until a mod or admin can do something. Other users have already reverted the vandalism and I've deleted the spam pages and blocked the users responsible. - The Light6 (talk) 15:38, November 27, 2018 (UTC)

My dude, we have a new vandal. Remind me, who has blocking powers here again? Per Ankh ED 00:45, March 21, 2019 (UTC)

Light can I have banning powers now so I can kill this vandal please? Per Ankh ED 00:49, March 21, 2019 (UTC)

Admins[edit source]

In light of some recent vandalism (more specifically, one vandal) I propose giving admin powers to either Per Ankh or Ylimegirl for being the most active staffers. Mamaopapaya (talk) 20:33, May 1, 2019 (UTC)

Dammek vandalism[edit source]

Can we protect Dammek’s page please? It’s under vandal attack. Per Ankh ED 23:14, September 20, 2019 (UTC)

Roxy edits[edit source]

grr, can we please protect Roxy’s page so all these noobs can’t edit it? The stream of “someone’s edited Roxy’s page to whine about what gender Roxy is. Again.” is beginning to get a tad irritating. Per Ankh ED 22:00, September 28, 2019 (UTC)

To be frank, what I think this wiki needs is more staff members. The people with admin/moderator permissions who can actively protect and delete pages, etc., are sparingly active, which makes it difficult to combat this sort of thing. BlackholeWI (talk) 00:02, September 29, 2019 (UTC)

Dropping you a line like it's hot, like it's hot[edit source]

Messaged you on Tumblr since I figured you'd be more likely to see it sooner there, but just in case, dropping you a line here to tell you that I dropped you a line on Tumblr about a couple of things :P -- Sorceror Nobody, 21:19, October 25, 2019 (UTC)

Excessive vandalism by IPs[edit source]

MSPA Wiki has been vandalized many times by anonymous users with threatening messages, antisemite... If you think that disabling anonymous users is necessary, go to Special:WikiFeatures. --TokihikoH11 (talk | contributions) 07:35, November 9, 2019 (UTC)
