Viz Media is an American distributor of anime and manga. Owned by the Japanese publishers Shueisha and Shogakukan, the company's catalog includes popular titles like Dragon Ball, One Piece and Naruto.
On September 14, 2017, it was announced that What Pumpkin Games and Homestuck, Inc., had entered into a strategic partnership with Viz to produce "a comprehensive array of additional entertainment content and licensed merchandise" related to Homestuck and Hiveswap. As part of this deal, Viz acquired the Homestuck publishing rights (formally announced on October 6) and unveiled plans to publish a new line of hardcover books beginning in 2018. Additionally, Andrew Hussie stated that the company would be involved in the release of the Homestuck epilogue project.
Simultaneously with the initial September 14 announcement, the Viz-owned Homestuck.com went live as the official website for the partnership, initially serving as a basic FAQ for new readers. On April 2, 2018, the site was relaunched and became the new host of MS Paint Adventures, with mspaintadventures.com being shut down and turned into a redirect.
