Yiffany "Yiffy" Longstocking Lalonde Harley is Jade Harley's child with Rose Lalonde as a surrogate mother. She speaks in a ruby red color (#D00009).
First mentioned on page 193,
she makes her first appearance on page 241 of Homestuck: Beyond Canon.
Concept and creation[]
Yiffy was designed by Kim Quach, who used the codename "Ruby" to refer to her. As well as following the four-letter naming convention for humans in Homestuck, this name relates to both of her parents' names, being both a shade of red (like "Rose") and a gemstone (like "Jade"). It might also hint at the ruby red slippers worn by Jade in her Witch of Space costume.
Etymology[]
The name Yiffy Longstocking is a play on Pippi Longstocking, the titular character of a series of popular children's books, with "yiff" being a term prevalent in the sexual subcultures of furry fandom, referring to the character's hybrid nature as well as being a pun on the name Tiffany. Though the character was designed and codenamed within the art team, the name Yiffany derived from Andrew Hussie himself, and was a "non-negotiable" part of his Homestuck: Beyond Canon outline.[1]

Yiffany was carried in just under two months, making Rose Lalonde’s pregnancy unnoticeable to the public eye. Rose and Jade Harley used Jane Crocker's help to make sure Yiffy could have a normal life without being bombarded by strangers. As such, aside from Yiffy's parents, Jane, her husband Jake English and their son Tavros Crocker were the only ones to know of Yiffy's origins. Yiffy was sent to Ms. Paint's Boarding School for Inconvenient Girls by her parents,
and her existence continued to be kept secret for about 15 years.
After the death of Gamzee Makara, Jane takes Yiffany as a war prisoner on her battleship under the belief that the opposing side has taken Tavros hostage. Yiffy is tethered with a shock collar and fed from a dog bowl. When she throws her bowl at her captor, she's electrocuted until she passes out.

Yiffy attends Gamzee funeral under these conditions. When Jake releases her from her leash, she stomps on Gamzee's coffin and then Gamzee himself until Jane again shocks her. Before Jane can seize her again, however, Jade, Rose, Kanaya Maryam and Tavros Crocker storm the church in their own ship. Rose and Jade reunite with Yiffany, and Kanaya threatens to bite Tavros on the neck and turn him into a rainbow drinker if Jane attempts to prevent her rescue; though Jane knows enough about troll biology to know that wouldn't work, the rebels escape with Tavros as a hostage anyway.

Jade mollycoddles Yiffany, but the affection is cut short by a discussion between the three adults. After a boring interaction with Tavros, Yiffany attempts to listen in on the next door conversation from a nearby air duct.
Personality and traits[]
Due in no small part to her rough upbringing, Yiffany has a disdain for authority, which she sees as universally unhelpful, and has no intention of becoming what she perceives as a “selfish adult”.
